Arsene Wenger discusses Diaby deal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was once again confronted with questions surrounding Abou Diaby’s future.

The French midfielder has been riddled with injury during his career in North London and has only managed 22 appearances in the past four years, picking up numerous injuries along the way.

However, despite another injury-plagued season, Wenger refused to rule out the possibility of another contract being tabled for the Frenchman a few months ago.

When questioned again today, Wenger admitted that Diaby needs to do more to prove that he is still capable of playing football, but he stated that talks will begin in the next month or so.

‘I had a chat with him and told him how I can envisage the future,’ said Wenger.

‘He has to make a decision. Of course he understands completely that he has to perform and to show that he can be present on a consistent way.

‘I will see where we go from there. I wouldn’t like to go into details, we have to meet again to see where we go from what I told him.’

It’s believed Diaby will only be offered a pay-as-you-play deal.
