Arsenal won’t make shock deal for Chelsea legend

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed he’s not tempted to make a shock offer for Chelsea centre-back John Terry.

The club legend confirmed yesterday that Chelsea have decided not to extend his contract past this season, and has revealed he will be leaving the club.

Terry is not yet ready to retire from the game, but he is not prepared to move to another Premier League, much like Frank Lampard and Petr Cech did when they left Stamford Bridge.

Lampard ended up at Manchester City and Cech joined Arsenal, but the Gunners boss has confirmed he wouldn’t be tempted into making an offer for the defender.

Arsenal Don’t Want Terry

Wenger said: “No, because he is at the end of his career and he has spent his career at Chelsea.

“If he wants to play longer, I am sure he will play for Chelsea. Loyalty works two ways.

“He was not only a great player, he certainly still is, but he was also a great coach on the pitch,” he added.

“He was a real leader and he had a great career as well, let’s not forget that. That’s never a coincidence. The guys who last such a long time have something special.
