Arsenal boss wants one or two signings

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed he wants to wrap up January’s transfer business in the next 10-days, with one or possibly two new faces arriving at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have once again been hit with a bit of an injury crisis, especially in the middle of the park with Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin both out for the foreseeable future.

Coquelin could be back in action next month, while Cazorla is expected to return March/April time, and Wenger is keen to use the transfer window to cover for the injury woes.

As it stands, Arsenal only have Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey as central-midfield options, with Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere also sidelined, and Wenger has admitted that signings will be made to cover those gaps.

FC Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny is all-but a done deal for the Gunners after he passed a medical in Paris during the week, and Wenger has now admitted he wants all deals done within the next 10-days.

Transfer Activity

‘I don’t give much away [about transfers] because I don’t know [what’s going on],’ said Wenger.

‘I want to talk about them and hopefully we are capable of doing something in the next 10 days.

‘It’s more about quality than quantity because our players will not stay out injured forever. Francis Coquelin is starting to run, Santi Cazorla will be back in mid-February, and Mikel Arteta is back now so, hopefully, if we can add one and, if needed, two maximum.’
