Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly asked the club’s board to go out and get him Lyon’s Maxime Gonalons.
Gonalons is believed to be available for around £14.8 million, as Wenger continues to try and strengthen the defensive midfield areas.
The Gunners’ boss is still looking for competition in that position, even after the emergence of Francis Coquelin and the signing of 17-year old Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw.
Arsenal scouts have watched the French international for a number of seasons, but will have to move to move quickly to bring him to Emirates. Arsenal’s North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, are also interested in Gonalons.
The 25-year old has made 224 appearances so far in his Lyon career since graduating from their academy in 2009.
