Arsenal boss admits he regrets making THAT bid
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he has plenty of regrets regarding his pursuit of then-Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
It’s well documented the Gunners wanted to sign Suarez and lure him to the Emirates Stadium, with some reports claiming the Uruguayan was keen on the move as well.
However, Arsenal tried to be smart and launched an offer worth £40million and £1. They did this because it officially activated the striker’s release clause of £40m.
Despite doing so, Liverpool still rejected the bid and laughed off Arsenal’s interest, only to lose Suarez eventually to FC Barcelona, who face the Gunners on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
Speaking about Barca‘s star-striker, Wenger has admitted that he has plenty of regrets regarding that transfer saga.
“Do I wonder ‘what if?’ It happened to me before but not now,” said Wenger. “He’s a player there and we have to keep him quiet on Tuesday night. Individually all their players are difficult to stop. We have to find a way to do it collectively.”
