Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has heaped praise upon Mesut Ozil after the German international dazzled on his home debut on Saturday.

The Gunners beat Stoke City 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium and the former-Real Madrid man was at hand for all three of the goals.

His set-pieces caused problems for Mark Hughes’ defence all game and on three occasions, Arsene Wenger’s men managed to earn all three-points.

Despite Aaron Ramsey, Per Mertesacker and Bacary Sagna being on the scoresheet, it was Ozil who won the praises of Wenger after the match.

‘I didn’t expect to score so many headers from free-kicks against Stoke, but the delivery is very important and the deliveries were good today,” the Frenchman told Sky Sports.

‘Like the team he gave a lot on Wednesday night (against Marseille), but he showed his class today and he worked hard as well.’
