Arsenal re-enter the race to sign AS Monaco midfielder

Arsenal have renewed their interest in Geoffrey Kondogbia it’s understood, after Arsene Wenger held personal talks with the midfielder.

The Frenchman is expected to leave AS Monaco this Summer, along with several of his team-mates, and he’s been a long-term target of Arsenal and seen as an alternative transfer to Morgan Schneiderlin of Southampton.

AC Milan Reports

Despite being interested in signing Kondogbia, reports emerged that the powerhouse was close to joining Serie A side AC Milan, in a deal worth ÂŁ14.3million.

However, according to reports, nothing has been finalised between Milan and Monaco, leaving Arsenal in contention of signing the 22-year-old.

Standout Season-Arsenal Keen

Kondogbia was a star performer for Monaco throughout the Ligue 1 season and also put in a star performance at the Emirates Stadium during the French side’s shock 3-1 win over The Gunners in the Champions League.

Although Arsenal now have Francis Coquelin as a defensive midfielder, Wenger is keen on finding him a suitable partner and he’s reportedly held personal talks with Kondogbia in recent days.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Wenger has renewed his interest and held brief talks with the 22-year-old about a potential move to England.

It’s believed Inter Milan are also interested in signing the France international.
