Theo Walcott AND Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both subbed off last night

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has offered fans an injury update on duo Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who were both subbed off during last night’s 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was brought off after just four minutes after seemingly hurting his hamstring. He was replaced be Walcott, but after failing to warm up properly, he then injured his groin, resulting in him coming off as well.

To add further insult to injury, the Gunners were eliminated from the Capital One Cup at the hands of Championship side Wednesday after losing 3-0, and after the game, Wenger commented on the injured duo.

Wenger Confirms Injuries

“The injuries are two muscular injuries and the injury damage I do not know.

“You have to wait 48 hours for the scans to see how big the damage is.

“I’m concerned because our next game is a big game on Saturday, we have the Champions League against Bayern Munich coming up. Already we are now short.

“To lose two players tonight, two offensive players, is damaging for us.

“Walcott is a calf and Oxlade-Chamberlain is a hamstring.”
