Arsene Wenger has revealed how he felt after putting end to his 22 year long association with Arsenal at the end of the last season.

Wenger decided he would not continue and would step down from the managerial post at the Emirates stadium. Wenger’s departure made the way for Unai Emery who seems to have done a wonderful job since taking up the mantle leading the club to a 14 match unbeaten run in all competitions.

Wenger hasn’t picked up a new job since leaving Arsenal and is waiting for the right offer to come. However, the veteran manager wished to be involved in football activities from early next year and he could be seen in a new role.

Wenger said, “I remember very well. I was a bit lost because you have time in front of you, which was never the case before.

“You always have a problem to sort out and when you have sorted it, there is another one coming straight away. The next game is always a target in your life.

“It’s very difficult, but I took it as a challenge. I don’t feel retired at all, I’m basically a competitor.”

“There are many things I don’t miss at all, like all the stuff around the game you have to deal with nowadays.

“But the day, the competition. The achievement that you can do it together, sharing emotions, sharing competitions, ups and downs – you miss that.”
