Arsene Wenger praises Arsenal’s performance

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he believes his side showed what they can do on Wednesday night during their Champions League win against Fenerbache.

Playing in an hostile environment, Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 victory against their Turkish opposition thanks to goals from Kieran Gibbs, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud.

The 3-0 victory puts The Gunners firmly in control of the two-legged tie and they are now easily favoured to qualify to the group stages.

Wenger believes his side put in a performance much like they did in Germany last year when they beat Bayern Munich 2-0 in the Allianz Arena, and for that display, he is proud of the team.

“The situation was heated over there,” the boss told Arsenal Player. “We responded well – we had the kind of attitude we had at Bayern Munich.

“Instead of waiting on what happens, we went into the match just to grab the game and get the result we want.

“Even at 1-0, we were not just waiting. At 2-0, we were still going forward and even at 3-0 we were still going forward in the last minute. I like that that kind of attitude.

“Our team play was very good as well. We were mobile, sharp and we played the kind of football we want to play.

“If you look at what this team has done since March, they deserve a lot of praise. A bad accident happened to us on Saturday. We ignored that and responded in a positive way.”
