Arsene Wenger questions Hull City chairman

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Hull City chairman Assem Allam is in the wrong for trying to change the name of the club to Hull Tigers.

The 78-year-old chairman has sparked a war with the club’s fans by considering the name-change and he got in further trouble with the fans by calling them hooligans for protesting against the change, and he also was quoted as saying ‘the fans can go and die’.

The Gunners take on Hull on Wednesday night at the Emirates Stadium, and talking ahead of the game, Wenger admits that he understands the fans frustrations as he believes a club should never change it’s tradition.

“I don’t see why it should happen. I don’t know what has been happening exactly.

“Usually there’s a tradition that is linked with the name of the club and overall the difference with the modern way of thinking is to combine tradition with forward thinking.

“I don’t think they (Arsenal fans) would react very well (if it happened to them) but I don’t know why they want to change and I don’t know the thinking behind it.”
