Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to replace out-of-form Mikel Arteta and it is believed that Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender is the man to replace the Spaniard.

Vice-captain Arteta has been in poor form so far this season and has struggled to cope throughout the season, especially when being paired with Mathieu Flamini, and Wenger is now keen to replace the former-Everton man in order to strengthen his team for next season’s campaign.

The 24-year-old has been closely watched by Wenger’s scouting team, and the Frenchman has been keen on bringing him to the Emirates Stadium for the last few seasons, and it’s believed that this Summer could finally see the German join Arsenal.

If the move for Bender fails, Wenger will turn his attentions to Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan or Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, both have been watched by Arsenal’s scouting team in recent months.

With Arteta being 31 now, Wenger is keen to deploy a younger central-midfielder in order to keep up with the pace of the game, and it seems that this Summer could be the time to improve his side after the club announced impressive profits for the transfer window.
