Arsenal could make move for contract rebel

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out making a Summer move for Liverpool rebel Raheem Sterling.

The England international is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season after informing Brendan Rodgers that he wants out of the club.

Sterling Controversy

Reports emerged late last night after BBC Sport broke the news, and it’s stated that Sterling is not happy with how the club have dealt with the contract saga.

Sterling has claimed he feels bullied to sign by the club, despite being offered a contract worth ÂŁ100k-a-week, and he’s also stated that he doesn’t feel backed by the club.

The winger was heavily criticised for the interview he gave to BBC earlier this season, and according to him, the club failed to defend him during the saga.

Now it’s believed Sterling will have a meeting with Rodgers and Ian Ayre on Friday, which is when he will tell them he wants out of the club and won’t sign a contract extension.

Arsene Wenger Comments

With the winger wanting out, it’s sparked speculation that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City could make formal moves for the Liverpool star, and when asked about the interest, Wenger has refused to rule out making a move.

“We will bid for people, yes, but at the moment we are not in transfer mode at all,” he said.

“You want me absolutely to say something that I don’t want to say … I don’t like to lie so if I say I will [bid] and I don’t do it, you will say I lied.”

“They have the right to decide what they want,” Wenger added.

Sterling was expected to have contract talks with Liverpool at the end of the season, but it’s now apparent that he doesn’t intend to stay in Merseyside.
