Arsene Wenger says signings are ‘unlikely’

Arsene Wenger has today confirmed that it will be unlikely that his side strengthen themselves in the January transfer window.

It is reported that the main mission this January is for Arsenal to re-sign Theo Walcott and make sure he signs a new contract, but the French manager has said that he only wants to sign exceptional players.

He said: ‘We have no problem in players wanting to join us. I’ll give you my phone for 24 hours! We can afford 90 per cent of them.

‘If you look at our squad, it’s quite complete. We still work on the transfer market as well.

‘However, we do not want to bring in average. We only want to bring in an exceptional player. At the moment we have not found him.’

This will not be what Arsenal fans wanted to hear as their side sit in sixth in the league and staring another trophyless season in the face.
