Ashley Cole is out of contract at Chelsea this summer, but has plenty of other options in terms of where to go when he leaves.

He’s been left out of the World Cup squad, and left out in the cold at Stamford Bridge, so what is next for the 33 year old? Wherever he goes, he can almost guarentee first team football. He’s been targeted by several big Premier League and European clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid. This list goes on, with Monaco also showing interest.

City aren’t short of left backs, while Brendan Rodgers has shown strong faith in young left back Jon Flanagan this season. Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger needs a replacement for the injured Kieran Gibbs, though could Cole return to a club he left on such bad terms? Stranger things have happened.

Cole has often considered going abroad, in his 2006 autobiography ‘My Defence’ he wrote: ‘I’d entertained European thoughts. Ask any player with ambition; they’ll all do it from time to time.

‘Nothing concrete, just tossing clubs around like a kid dreaming impossible dreams: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Milan.’

Alot of interest in Cole has recently come from the United States, with New York Red Bulls and LA Galaxy both understood to be interested.
