Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is desperate to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, despite falling down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.
The left-back has been dropped in recent weeks for natural right-back Cesar Azpilicueta, but the Englishman is keen on fighting for his starting place and winning it back off the Spaniard.
Due to being over-30, the left-back only gets offered 12-month extensions on his contract, much like Frank Lampard, and with the Summer nearing, it means that Cole is down to his final months at Stamford Bridge, but he is keen to extend his eight-year stay at the club.
The main reason for being dropped is due to a rib injury sustained a few weeks ago, so it is expected that Cole will return to the first-team as soon as he is fit again, but the player himself is keen to show Mourinho what he can still offer the club.
