Ashley Young out for ‘a long time’

Manchester United confirm winger is set to undergo groin surgery

Manchester United winger is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after it was confirmed he needs groin surgery.

The 30-year-old picked up an injury during United‘s 1-0 win against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend, and Louis van Gaal has confirmed he needs to undergo surgery.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game with Southampton, Van Gaal confirmed the injury news regarding Young and admitted he will be out for ‘a long time’.

Although he didn’t put a timescale on the injury, it’s looking likely he won’t play again this season.

Young has been at Old Trafford for five years and signed a new deal at the club over the summer, keeping him there until 2018.

He’s made 23 appearances so far this season.
