Crystal Palace label the offer as ‘stupid’

Crystal Palace have turned down an offer from Aston Villa for striker Dwight Gayle.

The former-Peterborough United star has been strongly linked with a move away from Selhurst Park, with Bristol City from the Championship close to signing him earlier in the summer.

City had a ÂŁ6million bid accepted but Gayle himself snubbed the move and refused to drop down a league.

Gayle’s first-team chances are limited at Palace, with Alan Pardew bringing in both Connor Wickham and Patrick Bamford so far this summer.

Strikers Leaving

Along with Gayle, Glenn Murray is also set to leave as the veteran has undergone a medical at AFC Bournemouth earlier today.

As for Gayle, Villa have launched a formal bid for the striker, but Palace have turned it down and labelled it as a ‘stupid offer’.
