Several players have had an epic season run in Aston Villa F.C., standing among the rest to provide a remarkable goal record. They are the delights of the fans as, with every goal, comes the thrill of excitement.

Aston Villa is one of the oldest clubs in the history of football. They originated the Football League – a well-respected league in Britain until the emergence of the EPL in 1992. Since they were one of the most persistent sides in English football, they have won several prominent cups, including the Champions League title or European Cup, the First Division, the League Cup, and the F.A. Cup.

Since scoring goals is critical to the success of any team, in this article, we take a look at four of Aston Villa’s top scorers from the last five seasons.

  1. Ollie Watkins (Season 2021/2022)

In the English Premier League season 2021/22, Ollie Watkins played 33 matches. He had 32 shots on target and a total of 52 shots. Watkins scored 11 goals (11.55 xG), with an average of 20 passes per match with a pass completion rate of 72% and had two assists. In the EPL current season, Wakins still maintains a similar playing position.

  1. Jack Grealish (season 2019/2020)

Grealish was more than a goal scorer for Aston Villa – he was a good and well-respected player. He had a good season run with the team before transferring to Manchester City.

During his time at Ashton Villa, Grealish was well-known for his dribbles, shots, and passes. He achieved an overall of 73 dribbles, 55 shots, and 1370 completed passes in the 2019 season. In the 2019/20 season, Grealish played 36 games and scored eight goals in total.

  1. Tammy Abraham (Season 2018/2019)

Tammy joined Aston Villa on loan at the Championship. He had a brilliant season run and received the praises of Villa’s fans. He was their centre forward, and he netted on several occasions.

Abraham was named to the PFA team and Championship player of the season. He was the first Villa player to net 4x in a single game.

He moved to Chelsea the following season, facing the club’s recurring goalscoring challenge. There, he was given the No. 9 shirt, worn by the likes of Falcao, Morata, and Higuain.

  1. Albert Adomah (Season 2017/2018)

Adomah finished the 2017–18 Aston Villa F.C. season as the club’s leading scorer with 15 goals. His 15 goals helped Villa to earn a playoff spot, defeat Middlesbrough in both semifinal matches to advance to the final, and play in the final. However, Villa eventually lost 1-0 to Fulham, missing out on promotion to the EPL. Aston Villa let him go after the 2018–19 campaign.

To conclude

In a way, the goalscoring run of the players discussed above has significantly helped Aston Villa and positioned them where they are today. It is also vital to understand that success was also the result of a collective effort by the rest of the team. Other than the clubs, the players also benefitted from having a good season run– they garnered the attention of top teams, some chose to leave, and some stayed like Watkins.

In the current EPL season, Villa’s supporters eagerly await the next star that will achieve a compelling season goalscoring run.
