Athletic Bilbao are reportedly interested in signing Nacho Monreal from Premier League side Arsenal.
The left-back, who joined The Gunners last January, cost Arsene Wenger £8million when he signed him from Malaga after selling Brazilian flop Andre Santos, but since arriving at the Emirates Stadium, he’s put in several dire performances and has fallen way behind Englishman Kieran Gibbs.
This could see Wenger lose yet another defender this Summer, after Bacary Sagna left to join Manchester City, and strong reports have suggested that Thomas Vermaelen has agreed to join Manchester United.
Bilbao, who finished fourth in La Liga last season, are only interested in the Spaniard if they can sign him on the cheap, or secure a loan deal for the whole season.
It isn’t known whether Wenger is ready to sell the 28-year-old, as if he did, he would then also have to sign a left-back, as well as a right-back and a centre-back.
