Atletico are expected to rebuild the team this summer
Atletico Madrid are expected to have major changes in the transfer window this summer. The Spanish giants face doubts over the futures of star forward Antoine Griezmann and goalkeeper Jan Oblak but could use that to their advantage in a bid to rebuild, according to Don Balon.
Griezmann is likely to join Barcelona this summer as the club is ready to pay out his release clause though Diego Simeone is hoping he will stay at the club next season. And Oblak has been targeted by top European clubs including Paris Saint-Germain.
Simeone reportedly has big plans for his squad in this summer’s transfer window in his bid to fill the gaps left by potential star player exits. He will use the money from the sales to add reinforcements this summer.
According to reports, the manager is keen on signing Liverpool pair Sadio Mane and Emre Can. Though Salah has been grabbing all the headlines, Mane has been important too, showing his class and quality this season. He has been crucial for the team since Jurgen Klopp signed him in 2016.
Emre Can is expected to leave the club this season as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season and yet there is no talks for renewal. Juventus have already offered him a deal but he has not responded yet.
Both Mane and Can are just the kind of hard-working players Simeone likes, and it’s easy to imagine they could both be a big success in La Liga.
This could be huge blow for Liverpool as their top scorer Salah is already linked with a move to Real Madrid and Barcelona and they wouldn’t want to lose their stars in a single window.
