According to records from Don Balon, Atletico Madrid are interested in roping in Monaco captain Radamel Falcao. With Diego Costa injured, Diego Simeone is looking for options to fill Costa’s place.

Monaco are currently in danger of getting relegated to Ligue 2 but Falcao has scored more league goals than any other Atletico Madrid player. In 14 Ligue 1 appearances this season, Falcao has scored 7 goals for Monaco.

Falcao played at Atletico Madrid for two years under Diego Simeone. As a matter of fact, Atletico Madrid was the club where Falcao established himself as one of the world’s most lethal strikers. He joined Atletico Madrid from Porto in 2011 on a transfer fee of €40 million which made him the most expensive player in the club’s history at the time.

Falcao scored 70 goals in 91 appearances for Atletico Madrid from 2011-2013 and helped the club win the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.

Given that Monaco’s chances of reaching European competition next season are bleak, there’s a chance Falcao might consider moving to his old club.

Provided Falcao does move to Atletico Madrid, his addition will certainly bolster the team’s attack.
