According to reports from Sky Sports Italy, Atletico Madrid star Diego Godin is on the verge of signing a pre-contract agreement with Inter Milan after undergoing a discreet medical. There were several reports that linked the Uruguayan centre-back to a move to Inter Milan in the summer.
Godin has made 373 appearances for Atletico Madrid since joining the club from Villarreal in 2010. He has scored 25 goals and has registered 13 assists for the club so far. This season, the Atletico skipper has made 23 appearances so far, scoring twice and registering as many assists.
Godin’s current contract at Atletico Madrid runs out next summer. Several clubs showed interest in him that included Manchester United, Manchester City and AC Milan. However, it seems that AC Milan’s arch-rivals Inter Milan will rope in the defender in the summer. Godin will reportedly sign a two-year deal for the Nerazzurri in the summer.
A couple of weeks back, a few Atletico Madrid players said that they were hoping that Godin stays at the Wanda Metropolitano.
