Spanish giants respond to transfer ban

Atletico Madrid are ready to push through a deal with Chelsea for star-striker Diego Costa, according to reports.

The La Liga giants have found out that after this window shuts, they won’t be able to do any signings until the summer of 2017 due to UEFA handing them a transfer embargo.

This means Atletico won’t be able to sign anyone at the end of the season, or anyone this time next year because they broke rules regarding registration of youth players, similar to what FC Barcelona were found guilty of.

Due to the transfer embargo, it’s forced Atletico into being active in this window, and according to reports, they are now desperately trying to secure a deal for their former-striker.

Costa Wanted Back

Costa left Spain back in 2014 after agreeing to join Chelsea and after a standout debut campaign, he helped the Blues lift the Premier League title.

However the second season at Stamford Bridge hasn’t been so successful, but he’s showing signs of improvement under Guus Hiddink.

Spanish expert Guillem Balague has already confirmed that Costa would like a return to Spain, but Atletico will have to get the deal done as quickly as possible.
