Atsu still believes in Chelsea future

Christian Atsu wants to feature for AFC Bournemouth this season, before turning his attentions to breaking into Chelsea’s side.

The Ghana-international was a summer arrival for the newly-promoted Cherries, however he has failed to make a Premier League appearance whilst at Dean Court.

His season-long loan spell in Dorset represents a third temporary move away from Chelsea having joined in the summer of 2013 – at Vitesse, and last season, Everton, where he made just five appearances, in a fruitless spell for Roberto Martinez’s side.

ATSU WANTS REGULAR FOOTBALL ON THE SOUTH COAST

And having yet to make the grade at Chelsea, 23-year-old Atsu believes that his hopes of a positive future at the West Londoners lie with regular football with Bournemouth.

He told BBC Sport ahead of the League Cup tie away at Preston North End: “It’s my dream to play for Chelsea. But right now I have to focus on Bournemouth.

“If I don’t play here there is no way I will get a chance at Chelsea.

“Of course I’m not happy I’m not playing in the Premier League because I came here to play.

“Going out on loan is very difficult, you have to keep moving and taking your family with you and that is not easy. But that is the life, and you have to accept it.

“I’m settling in well at Bournemouth, everything is step by step but things are good with my life and my family.”
