Queens Park Rangers boss expects to lose star-striker

Queens Park Rangers manager Chris Ramsey has confirmed that he expects Charlie Austin to leave the club this summer, but only if the right offer comes in.

The 26-year-old netted an impressive 18 Premier League goals last season, but it wasn’t enough to keep QPR in the top-flight as they were once again relegated back down to the Championship.

Premier League Interest

Since their relegation, Austin has been strongly linked with a move away from Loftus Road, with Newcastle United, Leicester City, West Ham United, Southampton and Chelsea all reportedly interested at some stage of the summer.

However, only one formal bid has been made so far and that came from Leicester, who launched a ÂŁ12million offer, only to see it rejected.

After yesterday’s season opener against Charlton Athletic, Ramsey confirmed that he doesn’t expect to have Austin around the club much longer.

Ramsey Expects Move

“If the owners get the right money, I think he will be moving on,” Ramsey said after the loss at The Valley.

“He would be a big loss for any club in any division. He’s going to be a massive gain for anybody that has the money to buy him.”
