Arsenal and Chelsea have both been handed a significant boost in the race to sign Aymeric Laporte.
The news out of Spain comes after Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal stated that he will refuse to pay more than £25 million for the highly-rated 20-year-old.
Laporte, who can play all across the defence, has recently broke into the first-team at the Basque club, and has put in some attractive performances at the San Mimas, form which has seen him lure interest from Europe’s elite.
Van Gaal, who has urged scouts to take a look at the defender, will only part with around £20 million to take the player to Old Trafford.
The apparent news will be positive for both Arsenal and Chelsea, with both London club’s set to battle for Laporte’s services.
