Gareth Bale is all set to return for Real Madrid in their Champions League tie away at Bayern Munich.

The winger had been out with a bout of flu, which had kept him out of Madrid’s routine 4-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday.

However, following his recovery from the brief illness, the 24 year old is to return for the fixture in Munich, according to manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti stated in his pre-match press conference.

“We preferred that Bale trains on his own but now he’s better,” he said.

Bale became ill last week, after coming on as a 74th minute substitute in the first leg, keeping him out of Saturday’s win, as Cristiano Ronaldo stole the show with a superb performance.

The Welsh international has had a good first year in Spain, having scored 13 La Liga goals, and another five in Europe.

Real have been crowned champions of Europe a record nine times but have not reached the final since 2002.

They can still win the title, however City rivals Atletico took a huge step towards winning the League with a narrow 1-0 win at Valencia.
