Balotelli to France in Lille swap-shock?

Although not quite in turmoil, Liverpool Football Club do appear to be a little desperate for things to change at Anfield. Inept performances and loss of direction coupled with poor defending and a lacklustre strikeforce, have lead to questions over Brendan Rodgers and the squad he protects daily.

Rumours are aplently, conjecture is a daily, if not hourly occurence, and everyone has something to say about how the Reds are going to fix things fast.

With ties against the European Champions, Real Madrid, and English Champions-elect, Chelsea coming up, it is little wonder that Rodgers and his followers are twitchy.

Today we hear that Divock Origi may return to Anfield in January. Not that he knows the place that well. Despite being a Liverpool player since the summer months, Origi was sent back out on loan to his previous club, Lille in France, where he has blossomed in the first part of the season.

Rodgers is set to approach Lille to discuss the early return of the 19-year-old Belgium international, and there is even rumour that Mario Balotelli may go in the opposite direction. It would seem Liverpool are fast running out of patience with their enigmatic forward.

However, Lille boss, Rene Girard has dimissed such talk, saying: ‘It’s only a rumour. There have been no approaches, as far as I know.

‘It was agreed that Divock will spend the year with us. There’s no reason he should leave midway through the season.

‘[Balotelli?] The matter has never been raised.’

With this being such a pivotal week for Rodgers and his squad, fans will be hoping he turns things around fast, and at least finds a little passion from his players. Things can change quickly in football.
