Barcelona are eyeing up a possible friendly match against Chelsea or Manchester United in Qatar.

According to sources, Barcelona are obliged to play a friendly match in Doha during the first half of 2014, as part of a sponsorship agreement with Qatar group Qatar Sports Investments.

Plans are still up in the air but Barca are keen on reuniting their old rivalry with former Real Madrid and current Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

It is expected that any proposed friendly would take place in the opening fortnight in February, before the sides return to Champions League action at the end of he month.

A meeting with a struggling Manchester United is also under consideration if Chelsea do not agree.

The prospective meeting follows hot on the heels of Real Madrid’s clash against PSG in Doha on Thursday, while Manchester City are expected to fly to the country as well for a warm-weather training week in the middle of January.

Providing there is no relay after Saturday’s FA Cup 3rd round match against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park, City will travel to Abu Dhabi following the trip to Newcastle in the Barclays Premier League on January 12.

City will play against Al Ain on the 14th of January to open the club’s new stadium, the Hazza bin Zayed.
