La Liga giants set to raid Manchester clubs

Barcelona are reportedly ready to make a move for four of the Premier League’s most exciting talents.

Manchester United trio Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, and Ander Herrera are all reportedly in the Catalan club’s sights along with Manchester City‘s David Silva.

The list has been put into circulation by the Catalan paper SPORT, who claim that the foursome have all been listed by the Barcelona board as targets. The paper claims that the names are being discussed within the club’s technical committee.

No price has yet been discussed, although it would take a monumental figure to prise all four from the grasp of their respective clubs.

It could be argued that Rooney, Silva and Mata are all playing at the peak of their careers, and that Herrera is one of the Premier League’s most exciting young prospects.

Big Money to be Spent

Were the foursome to be sold at the prices their clubs’ bought them for, Barca would have to part with ÂŁ115 million. Considering the length of each players contract, and the no doubt unwillingness of either Louis Van Gaal or Manuel Pellegrini to make a loss, a fee of nearly ÂŁ200 million would no doubt be expected.

However, even if the transfers were to go ahead, they would not be able to until January 2016 when the Catalan club’s transfer ban is lifted.
