After the controversial incident that has sent the transfer market into a spin , Senior Barca officials along with Liverpool directors met in London today to discuss a transfer for Suarez, with the Catalan club making him their number one target.

Liverpool are open to discussing a deal, but want winger Alexis Sanchez to be included as part of a player-plus-cash package.

However, RAC1 radio reports Sanchez has declined to be involved in negotiations, and a straight cash deal is being discussed.

Barca’s opening bid is reportedly worth £55.7million (€70 million) and the La Liga team are now waiting for an answer.

Liverpool would want a fee closer to £70 million or £80 million, but Suarez’s representatives are pushing hard for the Reds to accept Barca’s opening bid.
