According to reports from Marca, Barcelona are eager to sign Uruguayan striker Cristhian Stuani from Girona. Barcelona are eager to bolster their attack and find a suitable backup for Luis Suarez. They had Munir el Haddadi who signed for Sevilla a couple of days back.
Cristhian Stuani has become an integral player for Girona ever since he joined the club from Middlesbrough last summer. So far, Stuani has made 50 appearances for Girona, scoring 33 goals. This season Stuani has been very prolific for Girona, scoring 12 goals in 17 appearances. Only the Barca duo of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have scored more goals than Stuani in the La Liga this season so far. In Barcelona’s La Liga game against Girona in September, Stuani scored both of Girona’s goals in an eventual 2-2 draw.
Aged 32, Stuani is a pretty experienced player and his addition will add plenty of depth to Barcelona’s attack. That said, it will be very difficult for Stuani to find first-team opportunities ahead of Luis Suarez if he signs for Barcelona. However, if Suarez gets injured or suspended, Stuani will certainly fill his place in the first XI.
