Barcelona are tracking Manchester United’s £60million signing Angel Di Maria ahead of next season.
Angel Di Maria could find himself returning to La Liga, with the Catalan press proclaiming Barcelona are currently interested in his services.
Spanish newspaper Sport says Di Maria‘s agent Jorge Mendes is “looking for an exit route” after a difficult first 12 months at Old Trafford.
However, it is understood Barca are merely ‘keeping tabs’ on his situation. There are also suggestions in Spain that Real Madrid inserted a clause in his contract that prohibits the European champions from signing their former player.
Di Maria’s Desire
Despite Di Maria’s desire to return to the La Liga, Louis Van Gaal is determined to get his money’s worth after a mixed first season which was hindered by several injuries after a promising start.
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is aiming to bolster his attacking midfield options ahead of the new season following the departure of Xavi.
Di Maria only managed to score three goals and gain 11 assists last season and is now at the Copa America tournament with his national team Argentina, and playing alongside Lionel Messi, who could become a club team-mate as well in the near future.
