Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has signed a new contract at the club which will keep him at Camp Nou till 2024. Alba joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2012 during the Euros in Poland and Ukraine. His transfer fee was €14 million. Alba became a regular for Barcelona ever since joining the club and established himself as one of the best left-backs in the world through his performances for the club. He helped Barcelona win several trophies that included the Champions League title in the 2014-15 season and four La Liga titles among others. Alba has won a total of 13 trophies at Camp Nou. The left-back was in the La Liga and Champions League teams of the season in 2014-15.
So far, the 29-year old has made 282 appearances for the Blaugrana, netting 14 goals and providing 54 assists. This season, Jordi Alba has made 36 appearances for Barcelona under Ernesto Valverde, scoring 2 goals and registering 14 assists. Only Lionel Messi has provided more assists than Alba this season.
Barcelona and Alba have already agreed to a new contract which has a buyout clause of €500 million. The club released a statement on their website saying that the official contract signing will be held in the forthcoming days.
