Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho is uncertain about his future at the club amid reports that he could leave the club.
Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool last January and had a good start to his stint at the club, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists in 21 appearances across all competitions. However, the 2018/19 season has been a disappointing one for Coutinho, scoring 11 goals and providing 5 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.
Coutinho has had his moments of brilliance last season but it’s fair to say that he was inconsistent.
There are several reports suggesting that the Brazilian could move from Barcelona with Manchester United and Liverpool among the clubs linked to him.
Speaking about his future at Barcelona, Coutinho said, “I have a contract with Barcelona, it was always my will to succeed in this club, but now I am totally concentrated here [with Brazil] and about the future [with Barca] we do not know what will happen. Many things that come out in the media are simply not true but as for my future we do not know what is going to happen, that is the truth.
“Honestly, it wasn’t a good season. It didn’t produce what I wanted, it didn’t go as I hoped. But I hope it serves me as an example, as a lesson so that I want more, concentrate even more to be able to succeed.”
Coutinho is currently with the Brazil national team at the Copa America. He has done well so far, scoring twice in the tournament opener against Bolivia and providing an assist in Brazil’s 5-0 drubbing of Peru. The 27- year old will hope to continue to perform well as Brazil play their quarter-final against Paraguay on Thursday.
