Barcelona officials reportedly have met Serge Aurier’s representatives over a proposed summer transfer – despite Manchester United’s interest in the defender.
Barcelona want to sign right-back Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The defender is reportedly available for £17.4million (€20m) and is open to leaving Paris after two years in the French capital.
This has gained interest from various clubs – with Manchester United more than willing to place a bid.
But it appears that the Spanish giants Barcelona have also decided they are interested in Aurier’s services, and reports in both Spain and France suggest that officials from the club have met with the Ivory Coast internationals’ representatives in an attempt to put together a deal.
Both United and Barca are targeting defensive recruits for next season and Aurier appears to be the best available right-back currently available on the market.
However, convincing PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi to part ways with Aurier may be difficult for both clubs, as it is unknown if PSG are willing to let Aurier go for cash alone – or if they will ask for a replacement in any deal that is suggested.
It will be frustrating for Manchester United to know Barcelona are now looking at one of their targets, but interesting to see which of the two behemoth clubs will come out on top – if that is, PSG agree to sell.
