Barcelona to launch bid for Chelsea star if Coutinho move fails
Barcelona are keen on adding an attacker in the January transfer window. The Catalan side are desperate to sign Phillipe Coutinho but are hunting for alternatives as well.
As per reports by Goal.com, Chelsea’s Willian tops the wishlist of Ernesto Valverde after Coutinho. The 28-year-old winger has been utilised as a super sub by Antonio Conte and that is something that the Brazilian is not willing to accept.
Willian wants to play regularly and have a starting role but with Chelsea switching to 3-5-2 formation. His chances have been limited, with Pedro being the #1 substitute choice more often than not for the Italian manager.
The Brazilian’s current contract at Stamford Bridge expires only in 2020. Barcelona will find it very difficult to convince Chelsea to sell the Brazilian in the January transfer window and they themselves have a paper thin squad right now.
However, Chelsea have no reason to worry about it right now as Coutinho still remains to be Barcelona’s top target. The Catalan side made several moves for the Liverpool star in the summer and the midfielder too handed in a transfer request to force the move.
It was all rebuffed by the Reds who were determined to keep him.
