If reports from ESPN are to believed, Spanish giants FC Barcelona will wrap up a deal for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann this week. The Frenchman’s value has plummeted to €120 million after the transfer window flung open yesterday and the Catalans are wasting no time in getting their work done.
Griezmann publicly spurned Barcelona’s advances last season, extending his stay at the Wanda Metropolitano till 2023. However, it seems the French superstar is already having second thoughts about seeing out his new contract with Atletico Madrid.
Earlier in March, Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin confirmed that a deal to sell Griezmann to Barcelona was already done and dusted. Now it appears that the Catalans are just adding finishing touches as they hope to finalise the deal for the 28-year-old this week.
Barcelona are also looking to bring Neymar back to the club this summer. However, the Blaugrana will need to sell either of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele to fund deals for the duo and remain within the constraints of the Financial Fair Play rules.
Griezmann had a particularly below-par 2018/19 season, netting only 15 times in 37 league outings for the Rojiblancos.
