Spanish giants Barcelona have made Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw their main defensive target this summer, according to the Sun.
Luke Shaw has failed to establish himself as regular in the first team with just starting 12 games for United this season. He has fallen behind Ashley Young in the pecking order and is mostly reduced to the bench making substitute appearances.
He was given a rare start in last month’s 2-0 victory against Brighton in the FA Cup Quarter finals but was substituted at half time by Mourinho as he failed to follow his tactical instructions. The Portuguese was furious with him for not following his instructions and heavily criticized him.
Shaw was not happy with the substitution and the 22-year old is expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season after falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho. Clubs like Tottenham and Everton are interested in the England International but Barcelona are leading the race.
According to reports, Barcelona have made the left back their first choice target in the defense this summer. The club want to take him on a season long loan and to provide competition to Jordi Alba. Barcelona wants to focus on their defense after reinforcing their attacking department.
Manchester United have already started looking for potential candidates and are keeping tabs on Juventus left back Alex Sandro.
