The Chelsea defender is yet to sign a new one year deal

The man Jose Mourinho labelled as one of “Chelsea’s best ever signings” could leave on a free transfer next year.

Ivanovic has been key for Chelsea, playing in all of the Blues’ 32 games and the likes of Pep Guardiola are watching his situation closely.

Rumours have intensified as the former Barcelona coach has decided to deploy Phillip Lahm in midfield leaving space for the Serbian skipper to move to Germany.

PSG are also reportedly interested in Ivanovic’s to replace Gregory Van der Wiel who is keen to link up with fellow Dutchman Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United.

The Chelsea defender and his family are settled, hence their reluctance to move but the Serb feels he is not as well paid as perhaps he should be.

Ivanovic’s replacement

Jose Mourinho does have Cesar Azipilicueta but the Spaniard has been playing on the opposite flank for the past 18 months, such is the form of his Chelsea team mate.

Ivanovic’s departure would leave the Blues defence lacking with Filipe Luiz set for a return to Atletico Madrid, having failed to make an impact in the Premier League.

West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell is a possibility having been instrumental in helping the Hammers strive for their highest ever league finish, but Ivanovic will likely sign a one year extension.
