Arsenal have been joined by three footballing giants in the race to sign Olympiakos centre-back Kostas Manolas, as Juventus, Bayern Munich and Manchester United all enter the race to sign the 23-year-old.

The Greek international has already been told by his club that he can leave this Summer, as long as the interested parties pay at least ÂŁ8million for his services.

According to reports, Arsenal were clear favourites to sign the defender, but with the move stalling, United and Munich have now joined the race.

Arsene Wenger sees Manolas as the perfect replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who left in order to join FC Barcelona in a ÂŁ15m deal, and despite Juve reportedly making a formal offer for the Greece centre-back, it was still the North London club who were in pole position.

However, Louis Van Gaal is now in the market for a centre-back after Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both departed Old Trafford, and their potential move for Marcos Rojo has hit a stumbling block due to third party ownership.
