La Liga giants have been heavily linked with the striker

Real Madrid are expected to bolster their side this summer after an underwhelming domestic campaign. They lost out the La Liga and Copa Del Rey to their rival Barcelona this season.

La Liga giants want to add reinforcements and one of the key areas that they would like to address is the frontline. Karim Benzema is likely to leave this summer after an under performing campaign and the club have already been linked to host of strikers like Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Mauro Icardi ahead of the summer transfer window.

Since joining Bayern Munich form Borussia Dortmund in 2014, Lewandowski has been outstanding for the team and established himself as one of the most lethal strikers in the world. He has been excellent this season scoring 40 goals in all competitions for the Bundesliga giants.

The Poland International has been heavily linked with a move to Zinedine Zidane’s side this summer, with those in the Spanish capital forever in the market for players of his ability and profile.

But the Bundesliga giants are keen to keep hold the 29 year old and have been able to fend off any interest to ensure they continue to be the one benefiting from him.  It is their intention to still have him leading the line in 2018-19.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge  insists that there is no contact made by Real for the former Borussia Dortmund star and yet to offer any indication that they will be looking to lure him to pastures new when the summer transfer window opens.

Rummenigge told Muenchner Merkur when quizzed again on the forward’s future: “Robert behaves completely loyal. And we don’t know who sets these rumors up. And it doesn’t matter at all.

“Recently we had two lunches with Real Madrid’s bosses and we haven’t spoken a single word about Lewandowski.”

He added: “The decisive factor is the duration of the contracts. And if a club can pull it off, we will.

“We’ve done that with Ribery. There was a lot of money being discussed. At that time he was unhappy that we closed the door to Chelsea. But now, 10 years later, he is happy.”
