Manchester United could make a move for Bayern Munich’s Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Red Devils signed Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao in the summer for £28.5m, but the midfielder has failed to settle in Manchester, and could be offloaded to make way for Shaqiri.
Shaqiri has been frustrated by a lack of game time this season under boss Pep Guardiola., and has been linked with a move away from the Allianz since the beginning of January, with Liverpool the likely destination.
He is valued at £18m, and United chief Louis van Gaal is a keen admirer, but United may not want to take too much of a hit on Herrera after only signing him a few months ago, so a swap deal could be beneficial for both parties.
It’s believed that Liverpool are still interested in the Swiss international, but the idea of a swap-deal including another player, could persuade Munich to sell to United instead.
