Bayern Munich Refuses To Send David Alaba In Exchange For Leroy Sane

According to The Athletic, Bayern Munich won’t agree to let David Alaba go in return for Leroy Sane.

Manchester City’s woes at left-back have not been solved ever since Pep Guardiola took over. It seems to be their Achilles heel even after the arrival of Benjamin Mendy for ÂŁ52 million.

Mendy’s constant antics off the pitch paired with his long absences through injury infuriates Guardiola. His replacement is a makeshift, Oleksandr Zinchenko and both Angelino and Fabian Delph has been allowed to depart the club. While Aymeric Laporte has filled in tactically in some games, he is far better suited to a centre-back role.

If Alaba were to go over and fill out the left-back spot at Manchester, Guardiola will truly have made a huge improvement to his squad. However, Bayern are unwilling to let him walk. Their interest in Sane has been well documented over the past year or so. But Alaba’s heavy inclusion in Hansi Flick’s plans make him an untouchable piece in the current Bayern setup.

Alaba seemingly would not mind a change of scenery, especially if he is allowed to play in his more prefered role. He would also be handed an important part with Guardiola’s constant injury woes in defence. Ever since Vincent Kompany departed, the backline has been a constant rotation of string players like John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi and Eric Garcia.
