BBC Pundit Garth Crooks says this player was vital in Chelsea’s win

Defending English Premier League champion Chelsea beat Leicester 2-1 on Saturday and Crooks has heaped praise on one star in particular

Jamie Vardy pulled one back for the hosts from the penalty spot, but Antonio Conte’s team held on for the three points. After losing its opener to Burnley, Chelsea has won three straight league games. Leicester has one win and three losses.

However, it’s Blues shot stopper Thibaut Courtois that caught the attention of the BBC pundit, his performance was so good that it warranted an inclusion in BBC Pundit Garth Crooks’ Team of the Week, with Crooks waxing lyrical about the Belgian.

Crooks said: “He foiled the counter-attack led by Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez in the first half at the King Power Stadium, producing a quite brilliant save at a crucial time in the match. It gave Chelsea time to regroup, continue with their strategy, and pose their own threat”.

He added: “Courtois kept his nerve and went on to play a vital role in Chelsea getting maximum points”.
