Benteke back with a bang

Belgium big-man, Christian Benteke scored the fastest ever World cup qualifying goal after 8.1 seconds in the 6-0 thrashing against Gibraltar.

The Crystal Palace front man netted a hat-trick in the 6-0 Group H win, the first of which was also the quickest in the country’s history.
However, after his great start to life at the London club as he’s finally showing glimpses of his true ability and also to why Palace forked out ÂŁ32 million for him after his back to back headers against Everton and Sunderland.

It’s always been argued that Benteke is almost useless at a club that doesn’t cross the ball. Crystal Palace saw Benteke’s troubles at Anfield as a sign of optimism for them. “I think his style of play is that he feeds off crosses- we are the top crossing team in the Premier League bar one’, said Pardew.

Its evident to see with two pacey wingers down either flanks, especially now Townsend is in a certain run of form himself after his recent call up to Southgate’s England squad.

He’s not the only one

Benteke’s story is almost identical to that of Andy Carroll, yet another wasted talent after his move to Anfield. The Geordie only came back into form after his transfer to West Ham in which he has scored more than thrice the amount he scored at Liverpool
