Aston Villa striker wants transfer this Summer

According to reports, Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke will force through a transfer to Liverpool this Summer, with Brendan Rodgers interested in signing the Belgium.

Benteke, who had struggled for the majority of the season, has been in red-hot form in recent weeks and also eliminated Liverpool from the FA Cup at Wembley in the Semi-Final.

Benteke at Villa

Since Tim Sherwood‘s arrival at Villa Park, the Belgium striker has netted 12 goals in his last 11 games, sparking reports about his future being away from the Midlands.

Earlier this year, Sherwood admitted that if Benteke does want to leave the club at the end of the season, they won’t stand in his way, but they will want interested parties to cough up around ÂŁ30million for his services.

Liverpool’s Striking Changes

According to reports, Liverpool are happy to pay up to ÂŁ30m for the 24-year-old as they look to overhaul their squad ahead of the new campaign.

Brendan Rodgers is expected to sell three of his current striker, with Fabio Borini, Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert all scheduled to leave.

If the mentioned trio do in fact leave, that will leave The Reds with Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi, who will return from his loan away at Lille, but Rodgers wants to add a third and possibly fourth option as well.

Liverpool also want to bring Danny Ings to the club from Burnley on a free transfer and after Sean Dyche‘s men were relegated from the Premier League, it looks like the deal is a real possibility.

As for Benteke, it’s believed Liverpool will offer him a contract of worth around ÂŁ100k-a-week, and it’s stated that he will force a move away from Villa Park if they try to deny him the transfer.
