Barcelona to offer Samuel Umtiti a new contract extension
Since joining Barcelona, Samuel Umtiti has been their mainstay in defense. With constant solid performances for the club, he has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world.
His form has earned interest from many top European clubs and with a release clause of just €60 million, the clubs would easily pay for his services.
Barcelona are aware of this and wants to open new contract extension talks with the 24 year old as they don’t want to lose him on such a bargain. But the player is holding out as he is demanding an increase in his current wages, which has stalled the talks between them.
Manchester United are ready to take advantage of this decision as Jose Mourinho has prioritized signing defensive reinforcements this summer. The Portuguese is a huge fan of the France International and has made him one of his top targets. The club are also planning to trigger his release clause.
But, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish giants are now desperate to get an agreement over the line and will offer the defender an improved deal to secure his future at the Nou Camp. And part of this deal will feature a new buy out clause raised to a whopping €250 million. They plan to offer him a compromised figure, still an increase on his current salary which they hope he will accept before the World Cup starts in June.
If the Frenchman signs the new contract then it will be a huge blow for Manchester United and they might have to look somewhere else.
