Arsenal are also interested in Meyer

Liverpool are monitoring Schalke’s Midfielder Max Meyer situation as the player’s representative cancelled a meeting with the club at the last moment. Schalke President Clemens Tonnies claimed a planned meeting to discuss the future of the player was called off by the player’s agent-

“I had an appointment with Max and his adviser, which was cancelled by his agent on short notice,” he told Bild. “If someone doesn’t want to talk to me, I cannot change that.”

Meyer’s contract expires this summer and have rejected offers from Schalke in the past.

Meyer has already turned down two offers from Schalke with the latter believed to be around £5 million a year to make him the club’s highest earner. He turned down a new contract last year and also an improved offer last month.

Sporting executive Christian Heidel confirmed the offer had been refused last month.

“Max Meyer’s agents, on Jan. 12, received an offer limited until Feb. 15, and on Feb. 15 informed us via email that Max has turned down the offer because of the time limit,” Heidel told Der Westen.

According to Daily Mirror, this has put Liverpool on red alert and monitoring his situation closely.

Premier League rival Arsenal are also interested in signing the German this summer.
